Measuring What Matters Report

Measuring What Matters (MWM) is a multi-year initiative to build consensus and alignment around broader goals and indicators of success for public education. It was introduced in 2013. The goal of the MWM initiative was to collectively develop, test and propose a new model for education.

The project also describes how the Canadian Index of Wellbeing (CIW) can improve the quality of life in Ontario. Canadian Index of Wellbeing was developed by a group of researchers at the University of Waterloo (Department of Applied Health Sciences). It consists of 64 indicators (objective and subjective) representing eight dimensions of well-being: health, education, living standards, social vitality, leisure and culture, time use, democratic participation, environment. The unweighted arithmetic mean of the percentage change is calculated for each aspect.
